PSST . . . have you heard? The trend of supperclubs is going strong in Singapore, but those password-required, location-unknown events have gone into the design and music scene as well.
Hipster store The Redundant Shop has held two by-invite only events for design folks and customers. Since June, the shop at Everton Park has held two Back Door Access events, so called because guests enter via the shop's back entrance. And yes, a password is needed before entry is granted.
Watson Lee, founder of The Redundant Shop and design publication The Redundant Magazine, came up with the idea for Back Door Access after attending similar private events in Shanghai, such as a motorcycle launch in an abandoned warehouse.
