Bell and Good
Helmi Yusof
Violin virtuoso Joshua Bell made his debut with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra in 2016 to great success. Now the master violinist has returned to play with SCO once again, in a performance at the Esplanade Concert Hall that will be conducted by its music director Yeh Tsung and recorded live by music label Sony Classics.
The rare occasion will see Bell playing a classic Chinese work, The Butterfly Lovers' Violin Concerto, written in 1959 by composers He Zhanhao and Chen Gang. It is an orchestral adaptation of the centuries-old Chinese folktale of the Butterfly Lovers that is written for a Western style orchestra and features a solo violin.
Joshua Bell and SCO: Butterfly Lovers runs at the Esplanade Concert Hall on Aug 30 at 7.30pm. Tickets from Sistic.
