Blast From The Past
IWC Schaffhausen's Tribute to Pallweber Edition '150 Years' has won the Watch of the Year Award at the Temporis Gala Awards 2018. The timepiece was a one of the highlights of the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer's Jubilee Collection which was unveiled at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva earlier this year.
Unlike most mechanical watches, the watch has no hands and instead uses large numerals on rotating discs which jump to display the hours and minutes in a digital format. IWC used to manufacture pocket watches like that as early as way back in 1884 and the Tribute to Pallweber Edition '150 Years' tips its hat to that pioneering feat.
It is available as a pocket watch and in three wristwatch versions: all powered by the new IWC-manufactured 94200 calibre which updates the movement with a separate barrel and wheel train to advance the display discs.
