Blockbuster HK action
ACTION speaks louder than words in The White Storm, an epic and explosive (pun intended) all-star blockbuster about the drug war in Asia.
Directed by frequent Jackie Chan collaborator, Benny Chan, the film's endless parade of stunts, car chases and wild shootouts borders on sensory overload; so much so it looks as if screenwriter Manfred Wong (Young and Dangerous) had to compromise slightly on the story department with a standard issue plot, just so his co-writer/director Chan could squeeze everything into the film's two-hour-plus running time.
But who's to complain when the screen also sizzles with plenty of star power. Barely a month has passed since Sean Lau and Louis Koo starred opposite each other in the 3D disaster flick Out of Inferno, and they're back together on screen in The White Storm. Their partnership is one of the longest-running in Hong Kong cinema and this marks their 13th film together.
