A COUPLE of years ago, when the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) asked whether BNP Paribas, the title sponsor for the WTA Finals tournament, had a preferred venue for the event's 2014 to 2018 editions, the French bank's choice was clear. "We said we would like Singapore, because for us, Singapore is one of our key markets in the Asia-Pacific," said Sebastien Guyader, its head of sponsoring, brand and corporate advertising, in an interview with The Business Times.
"It wasn't just WTA that decided, but on our side, we really pushed to have it in Singapore and we are happy and proud to be the title sponsor of this event," said the Paris-based executive, who was in town this week for the second edition of the WTA Finals here.
