Body Politic
Helmi Yusof
The beauty and ugliness of the human body is explored in Korper (meaning "body" or "torso" in German), one of the best contemporary dance works to emerge from Germany in the 21st century. Choreographed by the much-lauded Sasha Waltz, it turns the human body inside-out, demonstrating its inner and outer workings, both literally and metaphorically.
Waltz's style has been described as "dramatic", "architectural" and "darkly comic". Though the work has toured over 29 countries and 47 cities, this is the first time it's being performed in Singapore, as part of the Singapore International Festival of Arts 2019.
Korper by Sasha Waltz and Hans Peter Kuhn (Germany) will be performed on May 31 to Jun 1 at the Esplanade Theatre. Tickets from Sistic.
