Body of work showcasing S'pore's art history
AS a major collector of Singapore artists, veteran architect Koh Seow Chuan usually lets other curators choose the works they want to show from his collection.
But this time around, for a showcase of over 130 works of his collection amassed over 50 years, he's chosen to take a hands-on approach to the curation. And he's determined that the exhibition will also be a strong resource for those who want a better understanding of Singapore's art history.
"I helped form the storyline of the exhibition so as to provide a human face and personality to the exhibition," says Mr Koh,76. He adds that he roped in his daughter Koh Lin Ai, his art framer, and Seah Tzi-Yan of Theo Arts Professionals. The exhibition was conceptualised only about four months ago, which left too little time to engage a professional curator anyway, he notes.
