THE iconic da:ns Festival by the Esplanade - now well into its ninth year - will be headlined by groundbreaking choreographers all set to showcase classical ballet and flamenco in ways they have never been seen before.
"The three extraordinary choreographers will bring in two pieces which are bold make-overs of beloved classics, redefined for contemporary times, while one harnesses modern science and technology," says Faith Tan, the producer for The Esplanade's dance festival.
The line-up comprises Matthew Bourne, the UK Laurence Olivier and Tony Award winner, who will present Swan Lake; Spain's Maria Pages, who will present the international premier of I, Carmen; and Wayne McGregor, resident choreographer of The Royal Ballet, who will present Far.
