He's no BreadTalk, but Antoinette's Pang Kok Keong is aiming to make a baking statement with a new line of loaves and buns at his Penhas Road outlet and new Millennia Walk shop. Better known for its French-style pastries (and Chef Pang's sporadic forays into Hakka heritage food like abacus seeds), there's now a large range of breads spanning both traditional European types and Japanese-style buns that are designed to be soft and chewy. Besides recognisable treats such as ham and cheese croissant and raisin snails, there are locally-inspired creations such as a braided Gula Melaka croissant filled with sweet-salty gula Melaka custard or Singapore Laksa Baguette Toast, which is spread with a rempah paste comprising prawns, fish cake and coconut bechamel. Priced from $1.50 to S$4.50.
Antoinette is at #01-28 Millennia Walk.
