BT Corporate Golf League back in full swing after three-year hiatus
Sixteen teams will vie for top honours over four legs at Singapore’s top courses
THE Business Times Corporate Golf League, presented by Singapore Pools, which was inaugurated back in 2009, gradually muscled its way into being one of the most important events on Singapore’s annual golf calendar.
Interest heightened as the years went by, with more corporate teams flocking to take part. At the last edition of the tournament in 2019, a record 24 teams signed up across the competitive and social categories.
The global Covid-19 pandemic that began in the early part of 2020 halted that strong momentum, however. The competition could not be staged from that year to 2022, but the organisers have brought it back with a bang this year – and with a measure of status and panache, to boot.
No effort has been spared to ensure that there is plenty of prestige for this year’s league, with four of the best clubs in Singapore picked as the venues for the four-leg tournament.
Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore Island Country Club, Tanah Merah Country Club and Laguna National Golf Resort Club are all set to welcome the bigwigs of Corporate Singapore for the 18-hole rounds on their pristine courses.
Sentosa will be the venue for the opening leg on Feb 9, followed by the second and third legs held at Tanah Merah and SICC on March 3 and March 24 respectively. Laguna National will host the grand final on Apr 9.

At a networking night to launch the BT Corporate Golf League held on Feb 2 at Singapore Pools’ Livewire branch at China Square, about 60 guests representing each of the teams were present and they were updated on the rules on the modified stableford system format.
In brief remarks to the audience, The Business Times editor Chen Huifen said: “It’s great to see the BT Corporate Golf League returning after a hiatus of three years. It’s encouraging that we continue to receive strong support from the business community, in both sponsorship and participation.
She added: “We hope the league will provide many networking opportunities, forge new friendships and catalyse plenty of deals.”
Ample networking opportunities aside, the event will increase brand awareness among a curated audience of avid golfers and BT’s readers.
During the launch event where the gleaming trophy was on display, many attendees tried their hands at the putting contest and some walked away with prizes.
A talking point during the two-hour session was that, ever since the inception of the tournament 14 years ago, there has been no winner for the hole-in-one prize.
This year, there will be two hole-in-one prizes on offer – an Audi A6 2.0 TFSI, and W Atelier Luxurious Furnishings worth S$30,000, for each of the four legs.
