The festivities continue at Peppermint (from S$72 per person) where you can dig into the likes of DIY prosperity yusheng, crispy sea cucumber, grilled Dalian abalone, mini Buddha Jumps Over the Wall and more. Or how about an Oriental afternoon tea at Portman’s Bar (from S$68 per person, minimum two diners) where you can nibble on homemade chicken floss scones, char-grilled whole abalone, crab salad tart and other dainty bites?

Welcome the Year of the Snake at the award-winning Hai Tien Lo, where executive Chinese chef Ricky Leung presents exquisite set menus for both small and large groups. Priced from S$168 per person (minimum two diners), enjoy signature highlights such as braised South African whole abalone with truffles and sea cucumber; crispy suckling pig and caviar; and deep-fried chicken wings stuffed with bird’s nest, fish maw and crab meat.
For a hassle-free reunion dinner at home, pick the Hai Tien Lo Superior Treasure Set (S$828 net for six servings) which includes yusheng with smoked salmon, premium treasure pot and crispy spring chicken. A la carte options include the classic treasure pot (S$368 net for six servings) filled with eight-head whole abalone, bird’s nest and fish maw.
Don’t miss a range of yusheng (from S$78 net for a vegetarian version) and roast meats from whole suckling pig (S$438 net) to crispy spring chicken (S$45 net). Make sure you have plenty of snacks to last you through the new year, with goodies such as kueh lapis (S$82 net per kg), nian gao (S$48 net) and pineapple pastries (S$85 net).

Group executive chef Martin Foo has a few new festive tricks up his sleeve for the Year of the Snake. For one, he’s created an elegant yusheng platter (from S$128) that spotlights premium ingredients such as South African abalone, great amberjack sashimi and Australian scallops. This new yusheng includes a medley of fresh and dried fruits such as grapefruit, pomelo, apple, dried mango and kaffir lime leaf chiffonade. Candied walnuts and crisp vermicelli add crunch, and the dressing is made with Shikuwasa citrus from Okinawa.
Dine-in set menus are priced from S$198 per person (minimum two diners) at Crystal Jade Palace and Crystal Jade Golden Palace. Highlights include braised superior bird’s nest with assorted seafood and Hokkaido sea urchin in golden thick soup; Bi Feng Tang Australian lobster; boneless suckling pig; and pan-seared fresh South African abalone with radish kombu abalone liver sauce. Special a la carte dishes are also available.
For home dining, the star attraction is the Auspicious Reunion Feast Festive Takeaway Bundle (S$571.20; members’ exclusive: S$398) which compiles a list of favourites including reunion yusheng with Norwegian salmon, abalone pen cai, prosperity carrot cake and salt-baked kampung chicken with hairy fig. For dessert, mango pomelo and sago jelly (S$32.80) is a refreshing sweet ending.

Welcome the Year of the Snake at 5 on 25 Cantonese restaurant, with an abundance of dine-in and takeaway creations curated by executive chef Martin Satow and head Chinese chef Lim Hong Lih.
