DIAMONDS MAY BE A GIRL’S best friend, but the earth also has plenty of other beautiful stones available – and in a multitude of colours too. Naturally, luxury brands have been making the most of the earth’s precious materials in their latest collections.

Just take a look at one of Tiffany’s gorgeous bracelets from its Blue Book 2023 High Jewellery collection. A combination of aquamarines, tourmalines and diamonds form the fresh, eye-catching tones of this piece in platinum, but at the centre of a yellow gold star is an intriguing black opal.

Meanwhile, Bulgari’s The Birth of Venus bracelet breathes new life into the allegorical birth of love with fan motifs evoking the soft, undulating lines of seashells. The pink gold bracelet is decorated with mother-of-pearl, pink opals, spinels and diamonds to create an exquisite and ultra-feminine piece of jewellery.

Over at Dior, white opals are put to great effect in a pair of Les Jardins de la Couture pink gold and diamond dangle earrings that are full of Old World charm and romanticism. But if you prefer stronger colours, go for a pair of pink gold earrings with flowers made of gems in absolutely stunning hues – pink, blue and yellow sapphires, rubies, spessartite garnets, tsavorite garnets, turquoise, green lacquer and diamonds.

Staying with earrings, Chanel’s Tweed Lion pair from its latest Tweed de Chanel collection is an asymmetrical, conversation piece featuring a diamond-studded lion and marquise-cut ruby on one side and rubies, yellow sapphires, spessartite garnets and diamonds on the other.

Another interesting use of materials comes from the Winter chapter of Gucci’s Allegoria High Jewellery collection, where blue enamel and diamonds decorate a white gold bracelet featuring an opal centre stone.

Keeping things cheerful are Van Cleef & Arpels’ Perlée couleurs rings, which come in yellow gold and diamonds, but with the main feature being an ornamental stone made of onyx, turquoise, malachite, lapis lazuli or coral. Vibrant and polished to show off a perfect sheen, these are a truly happy celebration of stones.
