FROM PERFECTLY EXECUTED ROASTS TO delicate yule logs and aromatic stollen, the restaurants at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) celebrate tradition with finesse. Away from the city’s bustle, dining here transforms your festive gathering into an enchanting retreat, complete with scenic views and resort ambiance. For those seeking contemporary flair, the newly reopened Syun offers refined nouvelle Japanese cuisine to elevate your festive experience.

Beyond the restaurants, a vibrant Christmas market brings its own special charm, where local and international vendors create a lively atmosphere with gourmet offerings and live stations.

Of decadent menus and holiday treats

At RWS, the festive spirit is alive and well, especially when it comes to dining. For those hosting dinner parties or looking for gourmet takeaway options, the selection of festive goodies and roasts available at the Christmas booth in the Hotel Ora Lobby (or via Oddle) is sure to impress.

Each roast comes beautifully presented in a handmade rattan basket lined with Christmas-patterned linen, along with a classic enamelled roasting pan. This thoughtful touch not only makes it easy to transport your meal but also allows for convenient reheating at home, so you can focus on entertaining your guests.

Apart from traditional roasts such as whole turkey ($298), maple-glazed gammon ham ($275), beef wellington ($368) and rack of lamb ($288), this year introduces king salmon ($225) to the selection. This variety of premium salmon hails from the pristine waters off Tasmania.

Alongside the roasts, you’ll find unique takeaway goodies that make perfect centrepieces or gifts for your business associates. The Jingle Bell Chocolate Tree ($398), for example, makes for a stunning conversation starter. Made entirely of 70 per cent organic dark chocolate or ivory chocolate truffles, it’s as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the palate.

Alternatively, there are also the Christmas tree-shaped RWS Celebrity Festive Mini Sweets ($90 for a set of five) featuring rich and creamy mousse cakes from each of RWS’s Signature Restaurants that come in a delightful variety of flavours – think Peruvian chocolate from Peruvian-Chinese restaurant CHIFA! or sake mousse from Syun.

If you would like to treat your loved ones to a classic yuletide feast, head to Osia Steak and Seafood Grill. The sumptuous festive menu focuses on togetherness and family time, featuring platter-style meals that encourage sharing.

Menu highlights include the impressive Stockyard grain-fed Angus beef tomahawk ($275) and an opulent cold seafood platter ($108) with freshly shucked oysters, snow crab legs, and sustainably-sourced red prawns.

For a more intimate experience, Ocean Restaurant offers an exquisite set menu (from $68) that showcases its classic dishes in a breathtaking aquarium setting.

Guests can choose from four-, six-, or eight-course options, with standout items like the scallop with Kaviari caviar and squid ink, as well as the A4 Kagoshima wagyu beef served with sea urchin. Round off your meal with the seasonal almond cannoli, specially crafted for the festive season, and the signature log cake served by the slice.

Japanese fine-dining, redefined by a master

If contemporary Christmas gatherings are your vibe, look no further than Syun. Reopened in November 2024 under the culinary direction of celebrity chef Hal Yamashita, Syun offers an upscale dining experience with plush interiors, an expanded kitchen and seating capacity, plus a dedicated sake bar. This refresh is part of RWS’s initiative to introduce new culinary experiences throughout the resort as it approaches its 15th anniversary in 2025.

Kobe-born Yamashita is celebrated for his pioneering approach to nouvelle Japanese cuisine, blending traditional techniques with modern flair. At Syun, diners can expect meticulously crafted dishes that showcase premium ingredients.

Menu highlights include exquisite omakase selections ($288) featuring A5 wagyu paired with uni or Oscietra caviar, alongside seasonal kaiseki bento boxes (from $88) that spotlight artisanal Japanese ingredients.

Meanwhile, the restaurant’s focus on refined presentation and thoughtful service embodies the Japanese philosophy of omotenashi – an approach to hospitality that anticipates guests’ needs before they arise and treats each diner with warmth while paying attention to every detail of their experience.

    Festive market splendour

This festive season marks the debut of RWS’s first-ever Christmas market, bringing the magic of Christmas to life across four zones inspired by English, German, Japanese and French traditions.

The free-entry market, called A Big Carnival of Joy, will run from Dec 9, 2024, to Jan 2, 2025. Stretching from RWS Basement 1 to the Universal Studios Singapore (USS) plaza.

For irrepressible Instagrammers, each of the four zones features larger-than-life installations including an 8.5m-tall hot air balloon in “France” and a 7.8m-high cuckoo clock in “Germany”.

But what’s a Christmas market without food? Don’t miss the live frankfurter grilling station at the German market. And, come Dec 18, look out for Singapore’s longest stollen – a whopping 88m – when it goes on sale.

Additionally, RWS has partnered with charity SG Enable to feature pop-up vendors selling unique gifts. Visitors can also try their hand at classic carnival games like ring toss and claw machines. Adding to the enchanting atmosphere are snowfall experiences and Christmas carolling by a cappella groups.

If you’re planning to dine at the restaurants or order festive takeaways, early reservations and orders are recommended.
