A fine gift of jewellery
Precious metals and gemstones make the best kinds of glitter this Christmas
WHEN CHRISTMAS SHOPPING, JEWELLERY SHOULD always be on one’s list.
After all, there’s nothing quite like giving and receiving a pretty little box, holding a mysterious, precious pick that’s been carefully chosen. This holiday season, we take a look at what could bring a sparkle to your loved ones’ eyes – and possibly become one of their favourite gifts ever.
Bvlgari
The Italian jeweller’s Diva’s Dream collection has always been recognisable for its dainty, fan-shape motif decorated with diamonds and an array of coloured gemstones. For that extra pop of colour, the bracelet (S$7,270) or earrings (S$4,710) in rose gold with carnelian and diamonds will make a cheerful Christmas gift – and be perfect for the New Year too.
Cartier
The panther is a signature design of the French jeweller’s and has appeared in various forms across its jewellery, watches, perfumes and accessories. Since it leapt into the maison’s designs in 1914, the now-iconic creature has been interpreted as being predatory, playful or languid. This Panthere de Cartier bracelet in white gold with onyx, emeralds and diamonds (S$92,500), for instance, showcases the cat’s strong, determined personality and will undoubtedly make a fine present around someone’s wrist.
Tiffany
Inspired by a single, 1960s bracelet with links, ball and lock found in The Tiffany Archives, HardWear by Tiffany has since become one of the American jeweller’s icons. This gifting season, we think you can’t go wrong with a new style from the collection – a small, single wrap necklace in rose gold (S$25,000) that’s perfect for both work and play.
Van Cleef & Arpels
Bring a floral gift this Christmas with a piece from the French maison’s Rose de Noel collection. Celebrating flowers that bloom in winter, the design features domed corollas and gold and diamond pistils with ornamental stones or organic materials. Two pendants and two pairs of earrings (S$25,600 for mini model pictured) in white gold with grey mother-of-pearl and diamonds have just joined the collection. Unusual but sophisticated, this is an option for a confident, elegant woman.
Pomellato
The Iconica collection celebrates the Milanese maison’s goldsmithing skills, with clean lines and rounded, sculptural forms defining the collection’s unique character. The latest additions feature designs in rose gold and diamonds and we especially love the rings, with their soft, sensual curves (S$2,550 to S$14,050 for rings pictured). There are options with or without diamonds, and if you can’t decide which is prettier, remember, they are stackable.
