A glorious changing of the seasons
Gucci’s latest High Jewellery collection is a representation of life and time as seen through the four seasons.

YOU CAN ALWAYS COUNT ON Gucci to deliver colour, maximalism and lots of fabulous details when it comes to jewellery. If any proof is needed, just take a look at the fashion house’s latest High Jewellery collection, Allegoria.
With it, the luxury Florentine house set out to capture nature’s glorious transformations and ephemeral beauty through the unrelenting changing of the seasons, and did it in great style.
Through Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, each chapter serves as an allegory to the colours and beauty of nature. The jewellery is gorgeously rich in design, and there is that Gucci-esque exuberant use of precious stones in bold, vivid tones.
On top of that, the collection pays homage to vintage jewellery, playing with antique stones and eclectic cuts – from fan, briolette, paisley and kite shapes to speckles of baguette diamonds.
Witness one-of-a-kind, old mine, European-cut stones – created primarily from 1890 to 1930 – evoke a time when gemstones were cut by hand and their larger facets cleaved in candlelight.
Looking at Allegoria, you can’t help but sense a quickening of your pulse – these are indeed jewels of joy, of life.
Spring
Gucci Allegoria starts with spring, and appropriately, the jewellery is defined by fresh hues in designs reminiscent of the multifarious blooms found in Gucci’s emblematic Flora motif.
For instance, a magnificent, cushion-cut 226-carat green tourmaline rests in the meticulously crafted openwork metal of a necklace, punctuated with star motifs and diamond baguettes. On its chain are fancy-coloured tourmalines and diamonds to complete the feeling of nature awakening.
If pink is more your thing, there is a necklace bearing a 161-carat cushion-cut pink tourmaline that is encircled by multiple levels of diamonds and coloured enamel. This is then set on a chain generously adorned with 72 fancy tourmalines that together, create a spectacular chromatic degradé. Pure delight.
Summer
What does one long for in the heat of summer? Something cool and refreshing of course, and in Allegoria’s summer chapter, this is found in the blue and green hues of emeralds, spinels and Paraiba tourmalines, topped with a sprinkling of multifaceted diamonds. There are also unexpected combinations and daring cuts which showcase Gucci’s savoir-faire and its unique approach to jewellery design.
Autumn
Fall brings with it winds of change, as nature prepares to take its rest. Along with that are warmer, muted colours which appear as silky, radiant stones such as yellow sapphire, pink tourmaline and mandarin garnet. An outstanding piece is a 78-carat yellow sapphire necklace surrounded by a colourful array of tourmalines and diamonds. Match that with a sublime, vintage-style yellow gold bracelet set with five mandarin garnets cut in three different shapes and you’re all set to bedazzle.
Winter
Finally, comes winter, which is also a festive season.
Gucci embraces both the crystalline characteristics of ice, as well as the joy of year-end celebrations with an enamel and diamond necklace, whose centrepiece is a milky, iridescent 92-carat opal. Channelling the season’s festivity and joy are diamonds – including one-of-a-kind European-cut antique diamonds.
The stones twinkle with subtle, kaleidoscopic colours, hinting at the vivacious spring to come, when the cycle of the four seasons begins again.
Yes, bring it on, Allegoria and all.
