A ‘green’ Christmas with Patek Philippe
The luxury watch brand’s latest ‘Zebra’ timepiece will be highly coveted this festive season
IT FEELS LIKE CHRISTMAS EVERY time Patek Philippe releases a new model, and its newest “Zebra” watch is no different. This crowd-puller is bound to be on watch buyers’ wish lists – along with two other recent models featuring green dials that are perfect colours for the festivities.
Patek Philippe Gondolo Serata “Zebra” Ref 4962/200R
The stunning “Zebra” from Patek Philippe’s Gondola series of pillow-shaped timepieces was launched to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Art Deco, a design movement that gained international fame in the 1920s and inspired the Gondola Serata’s soft curves.
The mesmerising zebra motif enveloping the watch’s dial is based on a key timepiece from Patek Philippe’s 2022 Rare Handcrafts collection: a wristwatch with a cloisonne enamel face from the Golden Ellipse line.
Recreating the visual interplay of stripes on the watch’s dial, with the zebra firmly in the foreground, required innovative techniques. It features a sapphire crystal, engraved and black-varnished on both sides.
The motif is completed with black metallisation and white varnish on the underside of the sapphire-crystal dial, creating magnificent volume and depth.
The 28.6 mm by 40.85 mm rose-gold case gleams with 94 brilliant-cut spessartites, high in manganese content. The vibrant, orange-red gemstones are laid out in a double-colour gradient, covering the hue spectrum from cognac to tangerine.
The contrasts in shades and sizes highlight the timepiece’s daintily “waisted” and arched profile. On the lower part of the case, another row of gemstones plays up the uneven curves.
The quartz-powered watch is paired with a white calfskin strap in a satin finish. Adorning the rose-gold pin buckles is the Patek Philippe logo.

Patek Philippe Ref 7340/1R Perpetual Calendar
It’s taken more than a quarter of a century – 26 years, to be exact – for the Twenty~4, Patek Philippe’s first and only exclusively women’s collection, to finally be bestowed with a high complication: a perpetual calendar, including a moonphase.
And, as if to ensure nothing distracts from it, the Ref 7340 – which tells the time, date, day of week, month and leap-year cycle – is devoid of any embellishment. Patek Philippe says it is the first non-gem-set round Twenty~4 model.
Yet, the complication watch is attractively slim at 9.95 mm, and comes dressed entirely in rose gold, including the bracelet. Its fully polished 36-mm rose-gold case frames a sunburst dial in a Christmassy olive green.
A self-winding movement keeps the perpetual calendar timepiece ticking, with spare power to keep it going for another 48 hours when it’s unstrapped and left unwound. The Ref 7340 also comes in full rose gold with a silvery dial that features a double horizontally and vertically satin-brushed finish reminiscent of shantung silk.

Patek Philippe Ref 5270P Chronograph Perpetual Calendar
The Ref 5270P is not just any watch – it is a grand timepiece that comes with not one, but two complications: a perpetual calendar and chronograph. They are housed in a 41-mm case crafted from platinum, the most precious of all metals.
The case’s timeless design is reflected in the concave bezel, elegant two-tier lugs and pushers, which are satin-finished on the side and polished on the top.
The dial, which has a black-gradient rim, is also in a festive green but made of lacquer, and the time is clearly indicated by white-gold hands and markers. The perpetual calendar displays, including a day-month double aperture at 12 o’clock, are harmoniously placed.
The movement that powers the watch is the first perpetual calendar chronograph calibre developed and produced entirely in-house by Patek Philippe. It has six patented chronograph innovations and an exceptionally slim calendar mechanism.
The movement’s traditional architecture is reflected in the manually wound, column wheel, and toothed-wheel horizontal clutch features.
The Ref 5270P is worn with a shiny black alligator strap with square scales and olive-green hand-stitching.
