More patents from Patek Philippe
The Manufacture continues to break new ground in the world of high watchmaking.
Patek Philippe Ref. 5057G-010
Cortina Watch has been selling Patek Philippe timepieces since it opened for business in 1972. But that relationship goes back to 66 years ago when Cortina’s founder, Anthony Lim, first met Patek’s late Henri Stern.
Today, Cortina Watch exclusively manages six Patek Philippe specialist boutiques across Asia; and a limited edition wristwatch has been created to mark this golden jubilee. Limited to 100 pieces, the Patek Philippe Ref. 5057G-010 is a new edition of the Ref. 5057R-001 created for Cortina Watch in 1997 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
The white gold Calatrava, like its predecessor, features the triple row guilloched “Clous de Paris” hobnail bezel but it has also been updated with a charcoal grey sunburst dial with a black-gradient rim, white transfer-printed Roman numerals and white gold, pear-shaped hands.
Turn it around to view the ultra-thin, self-winding Caliber 240 PS IRM C LU through the transparent sapphire caseback which also bears the commemorative “Cortina Watch 50th Anniversary Since 1972” inscription in white. Price: S$75,000

One of the show stoppers at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2022 this year was the Patek Philippe Ref. 5326G-001 Annual Calendar Travel Time – the first time two of the manufacture’s iconic complications have been introduced in a new case design.
It features the new self-winding Caliber 31-260 PS QA LU FUS 24H (with 8 patents) where the date display is synchronised with local time and is automatically corrected forward or backward when the time zone is changed.
To mark this feat, a new Calatrava case has also been created where it is guilloched with the hobnail pattern around its entire flank. The charcoal grey vintage dial is inspired by old photo cameras and this exclusive design is also used on the Ref. 5226G-001 Calatrava (powered by the self-winding Caliber 26-330 S C movement) which doesn’t come with the additional complications. Price: S$101,300
Patek Philippe Ref. 5470P-001 1/10th Second Monopusher Chronograph
Patek Philippe’s Advanced Research lab is where its watchmakers tinker with new materials and technology to push the envelope in the field of haute horology. Last December, it unveiled the Ref 5750, an innovative minute repeater that broke new ground in the acoustics department. Not only did it chime louder, it also gave off a clearer and crisper ring.
This year, the manufacture dropped its latest Advanced Research timepiece barely a week after showing its novelties at Watches and Wonders Geneva. The Ref. 5470P-001 is a 1/10th Second Monopusher Chronograph that can be traced back to 1856 when Patek started making pocket chronographs.
It is the manufacture’s first wrist chronograph for tenths-of-a-second short-time measurements and features a manually wound movement with two separate chronograph mechanisms and sweep hands. This new high-tech, high-frequency Caliber CH 29-535 PS 1/10 boasts 31 patents, of which 7are specific to the new mechanism.
