Patek Philippe's watches of wonder
The brand makes a stunning debut at the major watch show.
ALTHOUGH A MUCH-ANTICIPATED Nautilus update was nowhere to be seen at Watches & Wonders, Patek Philippe nonetheless made its presence felt when it rolled out 12 new models that included a major technical debut as well as a series of aesthetic reinterpretations.
These 3 timepieces capture the essence of its latest collection.
5326G ANNUAL CALENDAR TRAVEL TIME
This dual complication watch unites the annual calendar and travel time functions for the first time to provide a synchronised display of the date and local time.
The annual calendar requires manual adjustment only once a year, while the travel time system can display a second time zone. A new self-winding movement endowed with 8 patents has been installed, where the travel time mechanism regulates the annual calendar to allow forwards and backwards date correction. This means the 5326G can simultaneously move the date when the time zone is corrected, so the watch always indicates the exact date wherever you are.
It's housed in a new 41mm wide white gold Calatrava case with flanks decorated in a guilloche hobnail pattern. Its charcoal grey dial, sporting a black-gradient rim and slightly grainy texture, is framed in the vintage genre inspired by old cameras. The watch may be worn with a beige calfskin strap with a nubuck finish, or a black calfskin strap with an embossed fabric design and contrasting beige stitching - both straps are locked down by a white gold fold-over clasp. Price: S$101,300.

5172G CHRONOGRAPH
It wasn't too long ago - in 2009 - that Patek Philippe unveiled its first classically built chronograph movement which was entirely developed and produced in-house. The last Patek chronograph watch to be powered by this hand winding movement, which boasts 6 patented innovations, was the 5172G-001 model in a white gold case with a blue dial and strap. The timepiece was introduced just three years ago. The vintage spirit of this model is now reinforced with a new version - 5172G-010 - which features a rose-gilt opaline dial framed in a 41mm white gold case. Its Arabic numerals and charcoal grey syringe-shaped hour and minute hands, complemented by a small seconds hand at 9 o'clock, are coated in white luminescence. The chronograph also has a central charcoal grey seconds hand and an instantaneous 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock. The watch is fitted with a shiny chocolate brown alligator strap secured by a white gold fold-over clasp. Price: S$106,000.
5231G WORLD TIME RARE HANDCRAFTS
Grand Feu cloisonné enamel maps have often graced Patek Philippe's celebrated world time watches. The most recent one to receive this rare handcrafts treatment was the yellow gold 5231J-001 launched in 2019, which featured America, Europe and Africa. The white gold 5231G has a cloisonné enamel rendition of South-east Asia and Oceania. At the heart of the timepiece is a movement featuring a city disk and 24-hour disk with day/night zones. It shows the time at a glance in all 24 time zones at any given moment. To change time zones, simply press the pusher at 10 o'clock and all displays will be simultaneously corrected. The new world time watch, which replaces the previous yellow gold version, is paired with a matt navy blue alligator strap secured by a white gold fold-over clasp. Price: S$116,900.
