Timeless appeal
Tissot prides itself on its lasting power and pioneering technology.
A TISSOT WATCH IS said to be "a timeless expression of the human connection made when one person makes a gift to another". It's derived from its long-standing tradition of making timepieces that last, with the same care and craft as two people forging a life-long relationship.
The brand's collection is large and caters to a variety of tastes, in line with its philosophy of being open and inclusive. Just for Christmas, it has picked 6 watches - 2 for ladies, 2 for men and 2 unisex - that your loved ones will cherish for a long time.
PRX Powermatic 80
It was inspired by the '70s disco craze, but this upgraded PRX Automatic has even greater appeal today. There was a long waiting list even before it was rolled out earlier in the year. And not surprisingly. For a slim and smooth timepiece with a timeless design and priced in the sub-S$1,000 category, the PRX Powermatic 80 has a good deal to offer: an automatic movement (Powermatic 80) and an even edgier style than its quartz predecessor. The embossed chequered pattern dial comes in a range of colours and is framed in a distinctive tapered 40 mm stainless steel case. The watch is waterresistant to 100 metres. Price: S$950
Seastar 1000
With its resilience in extreme environments - the SeaStar collection continues to be the choice of high-octane adventurers. Its timepieces feature scratch-resistant ceramic bezels, water-resistance up to 600 metres and even helium values (a device that allows the compressed mix of air and helium to escape a watch as it expands during the decompression phase of a dive). Water-resistant up to 300 metres, the Tissot Seastar 1000 is powered by an automatic movement with silicium parts (Powermatic 80 Silicium), making the watch highly accurate in reading time. The movement, which can be tuned to store a power reserve of 80 hours, is housed in a 43 mm stainless steel case that features a unidirectional bezel with ceramic insert. Price: S$1,090

Bellissima
An ageless, chic, round ladies' timepiece that's defined by its enduring form - a smooth, pebble-like case with a semi-hidden crown and white ceramic gem. Time is marked by Roman numerals set on a guilloche rosette dial, indicated by sword-shaped hands. The watch, water-resistant up to 50 metres, comes in a petite 26 millimetres wide stainless steel, or steel and gold, case which houses a quartz movement with end-of-life battery indicator. The matching steel bracelet features a folding clasp. Price: S$590, S$650 (steel and gold)
T-Touch Connect Solar
Scheduled to launch in Singapore in 2022, this model was originally rolled out 20 years ago, predating today's smart watches. It's the first multifunction timepiece with a touch screen and, through the years, it has grown more hi-tech and acquired a distinctive shape which is recognised as a watch industry leader. The T-Touch Connect Solar is equipped with connected technology that can sync its sports applications with a smartphone. As its name suggests, the 47 mm titanium smartwatch is charged by solar power. Also, with the click of a button, it turns into a device that only tells the time. Besides merging Swiss watchmaking heritage and state-of-the-art technology, it's also very practical. You can swim with it as it's water-resistant to 100 metres. Price: S$1,250 (before tax).
Tissot Gentleman
The green Christmassy face of this 40 mm stainless steel watch alone makes it just the right festive gift. The rest is a bonus: a classic, versatile and supremely comfortable timepiece, powered by an automatic movement (Powermatic 80) with a power reserve that will keep the watch ticking for up to 3 days, when left unworn. It's also highly resistant to magnetic disturbances that affect the running of the watch - thanks to the silicon components used to make movement. You can even dive into the pool with it - it's water-resistant to 100 metres. Price: S$1,140.
T-My Lady
The stainless steel timepiece offers all-day glamour for the ladies with its combination of luxury and durability that's embedded in Tissot's DNA. The collection includes a rich variety of precious metals and stones, but all carry the same themes of freedom of expression, versatility and elegance. This 28 mm model sports a shimmering mother-of-pearl dial and gold accents. The accompanying steel bracelet can be switched to a leather strap in the blink of an eye, thanks to an interchangeable quick release system. The watch, which is water-resistant to 100 metres, is powered by a quartz movement with an end-of-life battery indicator. Price: S$660
