VCA, Tiffany and Gucci show off the latest in high jewellery
Discover the inspiration behind 3 new jewellery collections
HIGH JEWELLERY represents the pinnacle of what jewellers are capable of producing — embodying not only the values and DNA of a brand, but also its artistic, gemological and technical mastery.
In short, they are works of art.
Here are some tantalising pieces designed to steal your heart.
Van Cleef & Arpels
Launched just this month, Van Cleef & Arpels’ Legend of Diamonds – 25 Mystery Set Collection combines diamonds cut from the same rough stone with the luxury jeweller’s trademarked gem-setting technique.
The collection began with an exceptional rough diamond — the 910-carat Lesotho Legend — the 5th largest in size and quality ever mined. Using 67 diamonds cut from this massive stone, the maison created 25 unique jewellery pieces, each using its complex Mystery Set signature technique that makes it possible to set rubies, sapphires or emeralds with no prong or other metal component visible.

Tiffany
The American jeweller’s high jewellery collection for summer is one of 3 launched annually as part of its Botanica: Blue Book 2022. The other 2 are released in spring and fall.
The latest collection draws from its heritage of floral-inspired jewels and is anchored by 3 core themes: Queen Anne’s Lace, Painted Blossom and the visionary designs of Jean Schlumberger.
In it, Tiffany has taken important Louis Comfort Tiffany designs and species that appear in The Tiffany Archives, such as irises, poppies and tulips, and reinvented them.
Expect plenty of colour and striking details.
Gucci
In the third act of Hortus Deliciarum (Garden of Delights), Gucci’s new high jewellery collection, unique pieces are divided into 5 themes. Here, creative director Alessandro Michele gathers the passions and obsessions of an imaginary Grand Tour, which, in the 18th century, was a rite of passage for aristocratic young men and usually involved 3 or 4 years of travel around Europe, with Rome as the ultimate destination.
Under Michele’s imagination, the Italian luxury fashion house’s fantastical journey continues into the 1970s, and is a creative ode to specific historical and architectural eras suspended in time and space.
The resulting jewellery is romantic, maximalist and embodies an aesthetic that brings together different cultures while restoring the splendour of rarities.
