TWELVE readers of The Business Times (BT) enjoyed a Saturday afternoon tasting and learning about shochu last month. The masterclass was held on Oct 29 at Workhorse Izakaya, and was open exclusively to BT subscribers.

All readers had to do was to answer one simple question for a chance to attend the session. Six winners were picked, with each one bringing along a companion for the masterclass.

The event is one of the ways BT plans to reward its subscribers and engage them beyond the news. Besides the recent shochu masterclass, subscribers also had exclusive access to Mark to Market ‘Live’ in 2022.

Upcoming events planned for 2023 include exclusive food tastings, luxury watch viewings, market outlook seminars and networking sessions.

Ginn, who attended the shochu masterclass, said such perks are “a bonus for subscribers” like her.

As she is working in the property industry, she reads the paper for the latest in real estate news: “I like the way property is covered and the way it is written offers a fresh perspective … I often share (the articles) with my colleagues.”
