Buzzing with good ideas at the Singapore Garden Festival

DON'T be alarmed when you are at Gardens by the Bay over the weekend and you suddenly hear the buzzing of a swarm of mosquitoes. Relax, the pests are not there. The buzzing is an audio clip that's part of a garden display by landscape architects Chang Huai-yan and Ng Sze Oun from Singapore. They have created a mini jungle, and smack in the middle is a room filled with pitcher plants. Once in a while, the sound of buzzing mosquitoes comes on, creating that holistic jungle experience.

Titled A Tropical Parody, the garden is one of the eight displays competing in the Landscape Garden category at this year's Singapore Garden Festival. Organised by the National Parks Board and Gardens by the Bay, the festival returns for its seventh edition with more than 70 curated displays by local and international professional and amateur talents, spread across 10.1 hectares.
