Care & Share Movement raises S$1.3b in 28 months

    THE Care & Share Movement has raised S$1.3 billion in its 28-month run since December 2013, with the sum comprising more than S$800 million in donations raised by the 241 voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs) and S$500 million in matching grants from the government and Tote Board.

    The national fund-raising and volunteerism movement led by the Community Chest for the social service sector to mark SG50, Singapore's Golden Jubilee closed with a concert to thank its supporters, who were instrumental to its success.

    Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam was the guest-of-honour, with special guests Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Chan Chun Sing and Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin, all strong supporters of the movement.
