Causeway comedy
TWO decades ago, three comedians got their start wearing cheesy costumes at theme park Haw Par Villa. Now, the celebrated trio - Malaysia's Joanne Kam, drag queen Kumar, and Gurmit Singh - will reunite on the Resorts World Theatre stage in Laugh Die You - The Karaoke.
A combination of raunchy stand-up routines alongside dance sets and live music, this show marks the fourth instalment in the Laugh Die You series by Popcorn Studio, which has been a sell-out success in Malaysia; the past eight months brought sales of almost 12,000 tickets.
Expect fireworks, and we don't just mean pyrotechnics - the highlight is a bout of verbal sparring between the queens from both sides of the Causeway, sorting out age-old Singapore versus Malaysia rivalries. We're guessing that Kam and Kumar will finally settle which country whips up a better bak kut teh or wonton noodles.
