JUST how many ways can the body move? Dance fans got an inkling of the range of movements possible at the M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival's Open Stage + DiverCity last weekend.
Six works were performed each night on Friday and Saturday, ranging from works so minimalist that murmurs of "Can you see what's going on?" were heard from the audience, to full-on action from five dancers reinterpreting the Rube Goldberg machine and its chain reactions.
The artistic director of the festival, Kuik Swee Boon, said 10 dance works were shortlisted from more than 130 contenders from around the world, making the selected works special. If anything, they give an insight into how dancers are developing contemporary dance all around the world.
