CERTIS has launched its Community Give-Back 5 programme to mark five years of engaging beneficiaries from The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT BAF), together with The Rice Company Limited (TRCL), which manages BT BAF.
Community Give-Back 5 aims to empower underserved children and youth through the arts and technology, which aligns with Certis’ commitment to support those in need through providing enriching experiences in the arts and technology.
Under this year’s progamme, beneficiaries will for the first time get to leave their usual classroom setting and will be taken on excursions that will enable them to experience the arts through a variety of interactive exhibitions.
The programme kicked off on Wednesday (Dec 6) with BT BAF beneficiaries and Certis volunteers attending the Disney Immersive Experience at the Sands Theatre.
Community Give-Back 5 comprises three themes – convey, create and capture – which correspond to the activities of theatre, visual arts, and photography.
Continuing with the programme’s signature give-back component, each activity will also involve student trainers from BT BAF.
Lynne Kok, director of operations for TRCL, said: “It is extremely heartening to see that this year, Certis went the extra mile to bring our students out to experience these events to broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of the arts. These intangible experiences will greatly help in the development of our students.”
Robin Goh, senior vice-president and head of group communications and marketing, Certis, said: “This is a great opportunity to build on the positive outcomes we have achieved together so far, and create a stronger impact for both the BT BAF beneficiaries and Certis’ staff volunteers.”
Certis has also donated S$20,000 to BT BAF. Since its inception in 2019, Community Give-Back has benefited more than 400 underserved children and youth.
