Certis’ Community Give-Back programme highlights mental wellness with art and tech
THE fourth edition of the Community Give-Back programme by security services provider Certis aims to raise awareness of mental wellness among disadvantaged children and youth in Singapore.
Beneficiaries of The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT BAF) will work with Certis employees in three workshops over a span of seven months. The beneficiaries, who volunteer as student trainers, are currently enrolled in arts programmes supported by BT BAF.
The workshops, held in person for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, use art and technology to highlight mental wellness and sustainability issues. For instance, the first one will engage 15 beneficiaries from New Life Children and Student Care in a tech-enhanced dance workshop.
Certis’ chief corporate and human resources officer Tan Toi Chia said the company is committed to supporting the programme for the fourth year in a row after the “positive impact” that it continues to have on children and youth.
Certis has also donated S$20,000 to BT BAF, which is managed by TRCL, a charity arts organisation providing free arts education to disadvantaged youth. Since 2005, BT BAF has reached out to such youths who are interested in the arts but lack financial resources to pursue it.
According to Certis, the Community Give-Back programme is about inculcating “the spirit of giving back” and focuses on disadvantaged youth. It partners BT BAF in conducting workshops for volunteer welfare organisations, with help from Certis employees.
