SECURITY firm Certis marked its milestone evolution from a provider of physical guarding services to an advanced integrated security-services partner with a gala event earlier this week.

The firm celebrated the launch of New Certis and its new building Certis Commonwealth, which have been three years in the making, and gave recognition to employees.

The gala, which coincided with Certis' 60th anniversary, also saw four beneficiaries of The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT BAF) take centre stage with vocal numbers, including a performance with Certis' president and group chief executive Paul Chong.

This year, Certis is the presenting donor of ChariTrees, a fundraising event in support of BT BAF, which provides financially disadvantaged children and youth with arts training and performing opportunities.

The event will see 30 Christmas trees - dubbed ChariTrees - decorated by individuals and companies and lit at Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade from Nov 9 to Dec 26.

Mr Chong said that the company remains committed to giving back to the community in spite of its business transformation.

"We strongly believe that all young persons should be given equal opportunities to discover their talents and pursue their passion. Therefore, we are heartened that the young artists truly enjoyed the performing experience at our anniversary gala and we definitely look forward to providing more such opportunities."

BT BAF's chairman Alvin Tay said: "We are delighted to have Certis as a presenting donor for ChariTrees in support of the fund, and more importantly, as a committed corporate social responsibility partner who can help us nurture young talents in the arts."
