Certis stands by beneficiaries of The Blue Charity Gala

A GROUP of employees from security services provider Certis visited local charity SPD on Tuesday, where they befriended the local charity's beneficiaries and packed goodie bags together with them.

The activity was organised in support of The Blue Charity Gala, of which Certis is a Diamond Donor. The gala dinner on Aug 30 aims to raise S$600,000 for persons with disabilities, as well as youth with a passion for the arts.

The two beneficiaries from the fundraising effort are SPD and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT BAF). The latter is a fund that provides arts training to financially disadvantaged children and youth. The BT BAF is managed by not-for-profit arts organisation The RICE Company Limited.

"Certis remains an avid champion of programmes and initiatives that empower persons of disabilities of all ages as well as children and youth from disadvantaged families," said Tan Toi Chia, senior vice-president of corporate planning and group communications and marketing at Certis.

"At the same time, we encourage our employees to be actively involved in outreach programmes that support these causes."

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat is the guest-of-honour at the Blue Charity Gala, which will be held at the grand ballroom of Resorts World Sentosa. About 600 guests are expected to attend.

The gala will feature a special performance of classic broadway tunes by the Singapore Police Force Band and the collaborative segment between the band and beneficiaries of BT BAF. Also scheduled to perform are Adelyn Koh, an aspiring singer with visual impairment, and veteran vocalist Robert Fernando.

Tables for the gala are priced at S$5,000, S$10,000 and S$25,000, and donations will qualify for 250 per cent tax deduction.
