THIS season's UEFA Champions League kicked off all over Europe earlier this week, and as usual the world's most prestigious football club competition more than lived up to that lofty status.
Liverpool, the red-hot English Premier League joint leaders, maintained their winning streak as Brazilian Roberto Firmino netted an injury-time goal to sink big-spending Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield.
Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo - the Champions League's all-time record goalscorer - was controversially sent off in the first half against Valencia, although the Italian giants recovered to win, thanks to two Miralem Pjanic penalties.
