Chemical Industries donates S$60,000 to beneficiaries including The Business Times Budding Artists Fund
CHEMICAL Industries made a donation of S$60,000 to Souljourn, a new annual fundraiser whose beneficiaries are The Business Times Budding Artists Fund and Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH).
The donation was made as part of the company’s 60th anniversary celebrations last Friday (Jul 29). Souljourn seeks to raise funds for 2 groups of people with this fundraiser - underserved children and youth - as well as those in need of mental health support.
Souljourn is organised by TRCL (The Rice Company Ltd), a not-for-profit arts and culture charity, along with SAMH. The aim is to raise S$300,000 to be split equally across the 2 beneficiaries. The fundraiser will take place on Oct 28 and Oct 29, and will be a 45 to 50 minute performance showcasing collaborations between talents and beneficiaries from within and outside the 2 charities. Audiences will experience the world as seen through those in need expressed in music, dance, text and moving images.
“As we celebrate our journey over the past 60 years, we also want to do something for our community by remembering the less fortunate among us. We hope that our donation will be able to touch the lives of the less-privileged,” said Yeo Hock Chye, independent non-executive chairman of Chemical Industries.
