On the China wine and food trail
FOR wine aficionados more familiar with the likes of old- or new-world wines, being served a Chinese Bordeaux or Riesling might be akin to mixing Cotes du Rhone with Coca-Cola. But it’s much less far-fetched than one may think, given how Chinese wines have been steadily making their mark on the global map.
In Friday’s issue of BT Lifestyle, we head to Ningxia and Shanxi, wine-growing regions that are also known for their history, spectacular scenery and, of course, food. Come with us on a tour of some wineries, check out the sights and feast on local delicacies, including Ningxia lamb and Shanxi vinegar.
In Design, we visit a home in which the imposing vertical mass typical of houses in Singapore is broken down and then reassembled like stacked boxes. This architectural arrangement also creates pockets of openness and greenery.
In the Arts, the whimsical animation of Studio Ghibli makes an appearance in Singapore in a new art exhibition at the ArtScience Museum. And in Dining, we get a taste of Taiwanese ingredients at modern Japanese-inspired restaurant, Iru Den.
For this and more, don’t miss Friday’s issue of BT.
