Christine Amour -Levar
Philanthropist & Adventurer

It takes several minutes to digest what it is Christine Amour-Levar does for a living because the picture is so big. On paper, it says: "Social Entrepreneur. Environmental Advocate. Marketing Consultant. Author." Off paper, she's a wife and mother of four, mentor to young women, football enthusiast, history buff, sometime fashion model for her friends' projects, and lifelong learner pursuing an online course with the London School of Economics. Sceptics may think it's more surface than substance. But she has all the credentials - not to mention the impossibly hectic schedule - to prove it.
Born to French-Swiss and Filipino parents in Manila, Ms Amour-Levar is a part-time marketing and communications consultant for Temasek Management Services, a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings. She is also a marketing and communications consultant for iRace Media, a horse-racing publishing and media company - which is also her husband's company. She actively contributes stories to Forbes.com and Huffington Post, among others, and has written a book about being a working mother.
The bulk of her professional time, however, is devoted to her two philanthropic causes: Women On A Mission, which she co-founded in 2012, leads all-women teams of 12 or so on challenging trips such as crossing the Lut desert of Iran, cycling through Ethiopia and trekking to the Mount Everest base camp. These expeditions are coupled with fundraising efforts that have so far fetched almost S$900,000 for disadvantaged women. Her second cause, #HERplaneteart which she founded in 2017, focuses on the impact of climate change on women. Environmental disasters affect poorest people the most and the majority of poor people are women.
