IN A six-month partnership, Citigroup volunteers will undertake over 1,300 volunteering opportunities to assist approximately 3,600 beneficiaries associated with Touch Community Services. These beneficiaries include children, vulnerable families, people with special needs, and the elderly.

Taking part in the national-level corporate volunteerism pilot called Project V, Citi Singapore volunteers will engage in various activities aimed at making a positive impact. These activities involve delivering meals and providing companionship to frail elderly individuals, accompanying them to medical appointments, interacting with individuals with special needs and assisting them in mobility training, as well as mentoring children from disadvantaged families.

Project V is led by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) SG Cares Office, National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). It aims to establish sustainable volunteer partnerships by bringing together the private, public and people (3P) sectors.

Demand partners (such as social service agencies, SG Cares Volunteer Centres, MSF ComLinks, KidStart and Agency for Integrated Care) will be matched with supply partners (which include multinational corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises as well as public agencies) for specific regular volunteering programmes.

The partnership between Citi and Touch will see employees from all levels of seniority within Citi’s Singapore-based teams dedicating over 4,400 volunteering hours in key community activities organised by Touch. The announcement of this initiative took place during Citi’s Family Day/Global Community Day event held at Gardens by the Bay on Jun 10. It was graced by Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for MCCY and Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).

During the event, Tibor Pandi, Citi country officer for Singapore, emphasised Citi’s long-standing commitment to community development. He said: “Citi’s mission is to enable growth and progress to our clients and the community, and that commitment has guided us in making a difference in Singapore since 1902. In additional to Citi’s Global Community Day campaign and other volunteer projects throughout the year, the Project V partnership with Touch will enable Citi to continue delivering on our corporate purpose and allow Citibankers to serve in a more sustained and impactful manner for the long term.”
