ART Tomas Saraceno at Gillman Barracks
ONE of the most stunning art exhibitions of the year is the current Arachnid Orchestra.Jam Sessions by Tomas Saraceno. Here in a darkened space in Gillman Barracks, live spiders spin their silky threads and make small vibration sounds that are picked up and magnified by microphones, and then turned into glorious, ethereal music. Saraceno is an Argentinian artist with an architectural background. He creates art using insights and techniques from engineering, physics, chemistry, aeronautics and materials science. After extensive research into spider behaviour and webs, he created this exhibition for the NTU Centre of Contemporary Art.
