What's Up This Week
MODERN CLASSIC
If you've not seen Parasite, catch one of the two versions of the Oscar-winning Korean black comedy now playing on the big screen. The original full colour movie is fresh from making history at the Academy Awards by being the first Asian film to win both Best Picture and Best Director, on top of Best Foreign Film and Best Original Screenplay about a fortnight ago. Now, a new black and white version, which made its debut at the International Film Festival Rotterdam last month and was created even before it premiered at Cannes, has arrived in Singapore. In an interview, director Bong Joon Ho quipped that by removing all the colours from his movie, it made the story feel like a fable that was unfolding from another time. ~ Dylan Tan
Parasite in black and white is playing exclusively at Golden Village Funan, Cathay Orchard and The Projector.
