WHAT a week it's been for Singapore's jiu-jitsu exponents. At the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Manila, where the sport made its debut at the regional competition, the nine athletes in Singapore's jiu-jitsu squad punched well above their weight with seven of them earning medals.
Two of them - Noah Lim and Constance Lien - clinched gold, with Lim overcoming his Thai opponent in the under-62kg final, and Lien defeating her Vietnamese adversary in the women's under-62kg category.
A little-known fact is that Goldbell Financial Services - a subsidiary of the Goldbell Group - sponsored seven of the jiu-jitsu athletes, and five of them returned home with medals. They are Noah Lim (gold), Benjamin Chia, (silver), Fiona Toh, Teh May Yong and Paul Lim (all bronze). Toh, incidentally, is employed by Goldbell Financial Services.
