ONE of the world's oldest choral ensembles is set to take centre stage at the Esplanade.

The 900-year-old Nidarosdomens Guttekor (Nidaros Cathedral Men And Boys Choir), which is Norway's oldest men and boys choir, will make their Singapore debut with two shows on Friday and Saturday.

They are known for their wide repertoire which ranges from Gregorian chants to contemporary music, as well as traditional and classical works like Messa di Gloria. The piece, by one of Italy's greatest opera composers Giacomo Puccini, is rarely performed but will be sung in its entirety for the first time here.
