POTTY-MOUTHED stand-ups are a dime a dozen but one who does not swear is a rare breed.
Meet Jim Gaffigan, one of the world’s most popular “clean” comedians.
The three-time Emmy-winning funny man returns to Singapore on Apr 2 with his current Dark Pale Tour. Gaffigan last performed here in 2018 when he was touring Quality Time.
When not on stage with his comic routine, the 56-year-old is a familiar face on both the big and small screens.
Gaffigan’s ninth stand-up special, Comedy Monster, premiered on Netflix last December; and more recently, he received critical acclaim for his lead role in the movie Linoleum.
The six-time Grammy-nominated comedian-actor is also a two-time New York Times best-selling author; and made the top 10 list on Forbes’ 2019 comedy list.

Among some of Gaffigan’s influences are Richard Pryor, David Letterman, Bill Murray and Jerry Seinfeld.
He was a guest on an episode of the latter’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee; and the pair will yet reunite in Seinfeld’s first movie Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story on Netflix soon.
The American comedian’s material revolves around everyday life and his observations about it. Nobody is spared, not even his own family, as he pokes fun at them and at his own role as dad to five children.
Gaffigan is no stranger to Asia, having toured the region before; and even Singapore’s strict laws about chewing gum have made it into his routine.
Jim Gaffigan: Dark Pale Tour in Singapore takes place at The Theatre at Mediacorp on Apr 2. Tickets on sale now at www.ticketmaster.sg and all Singpost outlets. The Business Times is giving away three pairs of tickets to subscribers only. Click here for details on how to win a pair.
