Conveying a message just by moving the body

WHILE preparing for her upcoming dance showcase, Germaine Cheng got useful advice not from a dance veteran but theatre administrator Janice Koh.

"The first time Janice and I met over coffee, she said she didn't have the dance expertise she thought was requisite, but added, 'I'll come in and watch a rehearsal, and tell you whether I believe you or not'. I don't think I'll ever forget that offer, that challenge," recalls Cheng, a finalist in the SPROUTS 5th Edition.

Cheng is one of eight aspiring choreographers who had the chance to work with an industry expert for the last six months, prior to the final showcase of SPROUTS, which will be held at the School of the Arts (SOTA) drama theatre next month.
