Two culinary entrepreneurs' new ventures are inspired by beloved family recipes

GODMAMA
FAMILY TIES ARE what led Derrick Chew and his business partner to open their new mod-Peranakan eatery Godmama - a heartfelt tribute to the traditional cuisine and Nonya matriarchs they grew up with.
Not that Mr Chew and Christina Keilthy are related. Rather, he remembers the lavish feasts prepared by his Peranakan grandmother, while Ms Keilthy's palate was shaped by her godmother Monica and mother. Hence the aptly-named Godmama - in honour of Monica, who used to be a chef with a treasure trove of recipes that Ms Keilthy has access to.
