Amanemu by Kerry Hill Architects Building of the Year Design Award winner in Commercial Projects category
Amanemu, an Aman resort located within the Ise-Shima National Park on Honshu island, is designed as a contemplative retreat nestled in the landscape. The resort has 24 suites, four villas, public areas and an onsen. The internal spaces are designed as finely crafted timber boxes.
The suites and villas are orientated to maximise daylight access during winter, while wide eaves and deep verandahs keep the interiors cool during summer. The resort is constructed using only sustainable timber.
