Crossover Sensation
Helmi Yusof
Grammy-winning classical/electronic pop sensation Clean Bandit was forced to cancel its Singapore gig earlier this year when its drummer Luke Patterson contracted chicken pox. He's since recovered and the band is set to perform on Aug 15 at the Star Theatre.
Clean Bandit was formed 10 years ago at Cambridge University by a string quartet with a strong classical background. But when the group - now comprising just Grace Chatto, and brothers Jack and Luke Patterson - started blending dance grooves with classical hook and structures, they found mainstream success.
Songs such as Rockabye, Symphony and Rather Be became radio staples as the band sold over 13 million singles and 1.6 million albums worldwide.
