Nominated for six Life! Theatre Awards 2019 and winning two of them, including Best Original Script, Supervision is a compelling drama centred on a power struggle between a wheelchair-bound man (Patrick Teoh), his controlling daughter (Janice Koh) and his new domestic helper (Umi Kalthum Ismail).
Written by Thomas Lim and directed by Glen Goei, the play debuted at last year's Singapore Theatre Festival to raves, and is being re-staged as the curtain-raiser for theatre company Wild Rice's brand new space, the Ngee Ann Kongsi Theatre in Funan.
Expect sterling direction and performances, boosted by Wong Chee Wai's effective panopticon-like set design that creates a sense of paranoia and surveillance.
