The T'ang Quartet is releasing its first album in more than a decade - and it's its darkest yet.

Compared to its earlier albums focusing on Czechoslovakian composers, the new album Trampled Souls boldly delves into the morbid fantasy and dark whimsy of pieces such as Leo Janacek's Kreutzer Sonata, Aulis Sallinen's Some Aspects of Peltoniemi Hintrick's Funeral March and Marjan Mozetich's Lament in the Trampled Garden.

Leslie Tan, the group's cellist, calls the album a "lament over the loss of innocence - both of our times and ourselves".
