Design festivals come back to life

FOR design and architecture fans, expect to look, touch and feel at the upcoming Archifest and Singapore Design Week, which are both returning in the flesh after a 2-year hiatus thanks to the pandemic. In tomorrow’s BTLifestyle, we take a close-up look at the events which are jam-packed with activities to show how design is all around us, if you know where to look.

Sustainability is one key highlight of both festivals and visitors can expect to see installations that showcase green architecture and design; there are also tours of key projects and even a food tour of Little India.

Speaking of food, the already buzzing restaurant scene is set to see two new entrants in the form of Drew Nocente – formerly of Salted & Hung – who’s opening an Italian eatery on Club Street, and Kevin Wong, the ex-head chef of Michelin-starred Meta, who’s making his debut with Seroja. A tribute to the food of the Malay archipelago, he’s one of a growing breed of young local chefs who are stepping into the spotlight.

In the Arts, look forward to the Singapore Art Museum’s latest show which examines our relationship with the virtual world. And in Dining, we head skywards for a highrise lunch at Kaarla at the top of CapitaSpring. All this in Friday’s issue of BTLifestyle.
