Singapore Design Week is back, with a streamlined format and wide-ranging appeal
DESIGN IS EVERYWHERE, whether you realise it or not, and the annual Singapore Design Week(SDW) is back for its sixth edition to show how it can impact every aspect of our lives.
At the same time, SDW has become a little more circumspect than before, when just about anything even vaguely related to design was included in its events. This year's programmes have now been trimmed to around 85, down from over 100 in previous editions.
Organiser DesignSingapore Council (DSG) implemented a stricter criteria, especially for its satellite programmes. "We asked how the programmes address societal issues; how do they raise awareness of design; and if they unveil hidden local talent," says Mark Wee, DSG's executive director.
