Design season in Tokyo

WHO needs a reason to visit Tokyo? Certainly not us, but in November, there will be extra cause to head there when Designart Tokyo takes over the city from Oct 31 to Nov 9. With 130 exhibitions planned across 91 venues, locals and visitors alike will get to experience cutting-edge art and design at every turn.

Participating designers and artists will work with this year’s theme, “Brave – Pursuit of Instinctive Beauty”, as they unveil the latest in design, arts, interiors, fashion and technology. In this week’s BT Lifestyle, check out our guide to the best exhibits and events that are being held in all the popular districts, including Ginza, Shibuya, Roppongi and Omotesando.

In Arts, the Singapore Biennale is back with a bigger bang, with multiple showcases around the city-state – in locations as varied as Wessex Estate, Tanjong Pagar and Orchard Road shopping malls.

Meanwhile, in Dining, Thai food gets a twist at Im Jai by Pun Im, run by a Singaporean chef whose love affair with the cuisine led him to start a private dining outfit before opening his own place in Tanjong Pagar.
