If you have deseeded chilli before, you know how painful it can be when your fingers start to burn. David Jonathan Ui, a design student from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, has created Scoville, a kitchen tool that comes with a curved blade and prongs to easily remove chilli seeds. Scoville is one of 20 finalists at the inaugural Singapore Creative Awards, organised by Singapore Press Holdings' Chinese Media Group and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Singapore Branch Group.

Other finalists include Blocks 1&2, a desktop organiser inspired by the design of HDB blocks, and Snack Match: SG, a card game that aims to deepen the understanding of Singapore food. The winners will be announced on May 30.

The public can view the 20 finalists' works at the Singapore Book Fair 2018, at Capitol Singapore till May 31. They can also vote for their favourite design from now till May 27, at http://bit.ly/SCA-2018, and stand to win a massage chair.
