Deck The Halls
Experts share tips on how to get the best dressed home this festive season.
IT'S CHRISTMAS, AND for enthusiastic home decorators, the temptation is to flood the halls with boughs of holly and tinsel. But more doesn't necessarily mean merrier, warns Mike Tan, owner of lifestyle store Egg3, who also offers home styling services. "Less is more. Too much and the whole look becomes tacky."
Jill St John Jeremiah, brand visual manager for Crate&Barrel adds, "When you are spoilt for choice, it is easy to get carried away with all the Christmas decorations. Once the decor disrupts the functionality of the living space, that's the time to step back and look at the place as a whole, and start to remove and declutter."
A Christmas tree is often the centrepiece for the home. Mr Tan suggests deciding on a colour theme and sticking to it. "Choose the right ornaments and add new ones to refresh the look. Most times, people tend to reuse their old ornaments regardless of whether it fits with the theme."
